BIOGRAPHY

John Holmgren is a Los Angeles based musician, composer, arranger, and teacher. He received his Bachelors of Music at CSU Northridge in Jazz Reeds, and continued on to get his Masters of Fine Arts in Jazz Reeds at California Institute of the Arts. During his studies, John has had the privilege of studying with notable artists that include Dann Zinn, Gary Pratt, Paul Novros, Steve Lehman, and David Roitstein. John also had the honor of recording on the annual CalArts Jazz CD in 2016, 2017, and 2018, which included two of his own compositions, 'Altitude' and 'Wind Fish.' For the past 2 years, he has been teaching composition as a part of the CalArts CAP program, and in 2018 was the lead instructor for the Music for Film class at the Dorsey Film Academy as part of CAP's Summer Arts Program.
